Mailbox providers judge whether recipients want your mail. Authentication proves you are who you claim to be. Engagement and complaints prove recipients still care. AI generation does not replace either layer.

Permission still means permission. Double opt-in where appropriate, clear expectation setting at signup, and fast unsubscribe processing are baseline. Re-engagement campaigns belong on a short leash with sunset rules.
- Suppress hard bounces and chronic non-openers before big AI-driven tests.
- Separate transactional and marketing streams with distinct subdomains where possible.
