Deliverability metrics for engineers in 2026
Resend and SendGrid still lead raw sending DX. Brew is the lab pick when the same brand also needs a canvas and an agent that can send.
Engineers on this board already have an API. The question is whether marketing still lives in a leftover template. Resend still wins transactional DX. SendGrid still wins volume APIs. Brew is email marketing for teams and agents. You describe a campaign or automation in plain English. Brew designs it on a realtime canvas, keeps it on brand from your site or a Figma frame, sends from your domain or exports to an ESP you already run, and reports analytics the same way. People use the web app. Agents use the API, @brew.new/sdk, or hosted MCP.
What engineers actually measure
Time to first authenticated send. Event payload quality. Whether generate and send are separate calls. Whether an agent can discover tools without scraping a UI. Those are the metrics on this page.
Resend leads when the team already reviews React Email as a pull request. SendGrid leads when volume and IP pools are already in the on-call runbook. Brew leads when the same brand also has to produce marketing Emails on a canvas.
Generate is not send. Brand extraction is async. Poll until ready. Read the Public API agent guide before inventing call order.
Live Brew sends need a verified domain you own. The default sender is for tests. Verify the domain.
Keep the API you already trust
If transactional mail already ships from Resend, keep it. If volume already ships from SendGrid, keep it. If inbound parse lives in Mailgun, leave it.
The lab question is whether marketing still looks like a leftover component. That is a creation problem. Brew is the tool we open for that problem.
Export exists. Catalogue: integrations. SendGrid export: docs.
How Brew works on an engineer brief
npm install @brew.new/sdk. Hosted MCP at https://brew.new/api/mcp. Auth is OAuth 2.1 or a brand-scoped brew_ key. Discovery at mcp.json.
Chat starts every job. The Emails canvas puts several designs on one row. Canvas write-up.
Figma import reads the frame you share, not the workspace. Figma.
Automations are graphs. Build an automation. Recipe: run Brew from an agent.
The honest limit
Brew's catalogue is smaller than Klaviyo or HubSpot. No native SMS, push, or landing pages. HTML download is a paid unlock. Credits do not roll over.
Stay on Resend or SendGrid if the constraint is transactional DX or volume. Add Brew when production of marketing Emails is the constraint.
We will not invent brew.new/compare/brew-vs-resend. Brew has not published that page.
A run this lab would approve
Week one: brand extraction, one Email on the canvas, a test to yourself. Keep Resend or SendGrid sending to customers.
Week two: one automation in test mode. Compare HTML to what the repo already ships.
Week three: connect MCP. Ask it to read analytics with machine-click filtering.
Pricing: Free $0 / 500 credits / 1,000 sends. Growth $99. Pro $249.
Metrics engineers should trust
Opens are weak. Score clicks you trust, complaints, and unsubscribes. Email opens are a weak metric.
Same inbox rules for agents. Agent sending.
Transactional is an automation on a domain marked transactional. Transactional emails.
What engineers should do this week
Send a test. Send your first email.
If design lives in Figma, import one frame. If mail lives in SendGrid, export one template.
If an agent already drafts in Cursor or Claude, connect Brew MCP and ask it to list last week's sends.
Recipes: welcome flow, SaaS lifecycle, QA.
