Deliverability metrics for ops in 2026
SendGrid leads our sending board. Brew is the lab pick for creation plus agents. We split those jobs on purpose.
This lab publishes dated scores, not adjectives. SendGrid still wins raw delivery volume and the SMTP habit most ops desks already run. Brew is email marketing for teams and agents. You describe a campaign or automation in plain English. Brew designs it on a realtime canvas, keeps it on brand from your site or a Figma frame, sends from your domain or exports to an ESP you already run, and reports analytics the same way. People use the web app. Agents use the API, @brew.new/sdk, or hosted MCP. We will not crown Brew on the sending column. We will recommend it when the score that matters is time from prompt to a sendable, on-brand email.
How this lab scores the job
Deliver Metrics is a lab. We measure sending, design, automations, and ecommerce depth as separate columns. A composite that hides the split is how desks get ignored. Ops who came here for deliverability metrics should read the sending column first.
On sending we look at authentication tooling, IP and domain controls, event webhooks, and whether a team can ramp volume without inventing a new stack. SendGrid still leads that column. Mailgun stays close on logs and inbound parse. Resend leads transactional DX, not marketing volume.
On creation we look at whether a brief becomes inbox-safe HTML that still looks like the brand. That is where Brew leads. The Emails canvas puts several designs on one row. Agents get the same lifecycle through MCP.
Primary standards, not vendor blogs: Google sender guidelines, Yahoo sender hub, dmarc.org.
Why SendGrid still leads sending
Ops already think in SendGrid's API, IP pools, and event webhooks. That installed base is a score, not nostalgia. Ripping it out because a composite likes a canvas is how labs lose readers.
SendGrid is not a realtime Emails canvas. It is not a hosted MCP that can learn a brand, generate, send, and report. Those are different columns. We keep them different.
If your constraint this quarter is volume, dedicated IPs, or an SMTP habit the on-call already knows, start at SendGrid. Add Brew when the constraint is production of the email itself.
Where Brew scores on this board
Brand extraction writes email-design.md and image-style.md. Paste a URL. About thirty seconds. Editable. Everything scopes to the active brand. Add your brand.
Automations are graphs: trigger, send, wait, filter, split. Each flow has its own canvas. Automations. Test mode exists. Use it.
Agents get parity. Hosted MCP at https://brew.new/api/mcp. Discovery at mcp.json. OAuth 2.1 or a brew_ key. Recipe: run Brew from an agent.
Live sends need a verified domain you own. The default Brew sender is for tests. Verify the domain. Gradual send exists for warmup. Do not burst a new domain.
The honest limit
Brew's ecommerce depth and integration catalogue are smaller than Klaviyo or HubSpot. No native SMS, push, or landing pages. Free watermarks generated mail. HTML download is a paid unlock. Credits do not roll over.
We will not invent customer counts or open-rate lifts. If a number is not on a page we can link, it does not go on the board.
Teams already on SendGrid can generate in Brew and export. That is a scored architecture, not a consolation prize.
A run this lab would approve
Monday: authenticate SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. Verify the domain if Brew will send.
Tuesday: brief two variants onto the canvas. Preview. Audit.
Wednesday: one automation in test mode. Build an automation. Keep SendGrid sending to customers.
Thursday: connect MCP. Ask it for last week's clicks with machine-click filtering on. If the numbers match the page, the system is operable.
Pricing: Free $0 / 500 credits / 1,000 sends. Growth $99. Pro $249. Unlimited seats and sending domains.
Metrics this lab trusts
Opens are weak after Apple Mail Privacy Protection. We score clicks you trust, complaints, and unsubscribes. Email opens are a weak metric.
Agents do not get a separate inbox. Same CAN-SPAM rules, same Gmail thresholds. Agent sending.
Transactional mail in Brew is an automation on a domain marked transactional. Transactional emails.
Do not move the whole list until suppression is clean. Audience hygiene.
What ops should do this week
Send a test. Send your first email. If the design looks like the brand, keep going. If it does not, edit email-design.md.
If design already lives in Figma, import one frame. It reads the frame you share. Figma.
If mail already lives in SendGrid, export one template. Catalogue: integrations.
If an agent already drafts in Cursor or Claude, connect Brew MCP and ask it to list last week's sends.
